A moment of nostalgia
I was teaching this new guy, one of my month-end tasks...a 'simple' GST reconciliation and one of the parts of that investigation was actually going to the bank's accounts payable department and finding invoices that were listed in the GL. I guess that its the fact that I am going to actually see the 'accounts payable' department and deal with the AP clerks (whom all pretty much don't care and aim to leave work as early as possible); getting a listing of invoices that I need from the GL; searching through files for the invoices; matching up amounts, invoice numbers, GST, etc with the listing (ie. vouching); photocopying invoices; and teaching my 'junior' what to look for and how to do it (oh and not to forget the 'long' hours working..haha)...just a moment of nostalgia hit me...and I remember that this is what it was like while I was in audit. Strangely enough...to my friends who are reading this now, whom are auditors in PwC Singapore...its the peak season now, and who knows, maybe some if not all of you are actually vouching (maybe seniors don't do this anymore :P) an invoice or telling a junior to do it :P haha... This is probably the last time I will be doing such a thing, because of my new career coming up :) but who knows...hah ;)
Tomorrow is my last day, and I will miss the people (not the work) I have worked, laughed, and drank with these past 8mths. Well thats life :)
