First Weekend of 2007
Its the first weekend of the new year and it got off to a good start :)...got free tickets to the basketball on Saturday night. It was Sydney Kings v Wollongong Hawks...now it wasn't my Perth Wildcats or Singapore Slingers playing (unlike my previous posts) playing...they were two totally unrelated (and uninterested teams) but my entire Westpac team got free tickets (pretty good tickets too)...so cannot reallly complain :P. So we met for drinks at a pub in Chinatown, dinner in Chinatown then went to the game :) Now I placed a bet on the game, as is my style, because with none of my teams playing..it would have been pretty dull and I really wouldn't have 'supported' any team. Unfortunately, I didn't win..or actually my team (Sydney) that I'd put my money on did win..but just not by the correct score :P oh well..was being too smart and greedy..haha. It was an exciting game tho, with plenty of drinks and laughs amongst my colleagues who were all giving me @#$! since I came from Perth (and proud of it..haha).Sunday was originally meant to be a beach volleyball day (ahhh..finally its time to enjoy the sun, sand and suf) @ Manly beach with Karen, Fiona, Jenny, Gab, and Edwin. Being a little KS we went early so as to ensure we got a beach volleyball court (its free usage, but based on a first come first serve basis..and with the weather being fine, well it was going to be busy). There were plenty of surfers, bikini babes ;) around (of course...it was Manly and the sun was out haha)...but there was also a beach volleyball tournament going on :( sadly...we didn't get a court (but later on there were free courts), so we went for a big Aussie breakfast by the beach instead. I had another volleyball game organised (indoor this time) at the Rocks, so I had to leave my friends to go take the ferry across the harbour to get to the Rocks. Indoor volleyball was ok, but with the sun shining and the warm soft sand still in my thoughts...I did wish I was out there (but I'd already given my word to my other group of friends that I would play :P) oh well...
Later, I met up with Karen and the gang back up in Nth Sydney for dinner at quite a nice Chinese resturant, afterwhich we headed back up to her apartment for some drinks and play a bit of poker (wasn't a good night...I lost $5 :P)...actually the poker set came with the drinks we bought so we thought we'd give it a go..haha. Oh and did I tell you I also had a haircut (new job so gotta get a haircut to look pro and stylish haha)..went to my favourite Korean barber along George St, whom only works on Sundays :P, but he is good and definitely willing to give advice on styling of hair, etc! (certainly better than the Aussie barbers here, who definies 'style' as taking the electric razor and just shaving it off using a 1, 2, 3 or 4).
Whilst it wasn't as action-packed a weekend as I thought it would have been, it was fun and good to spend it with friends and playing sports :) Overall still a good start to the year...could have just spent it at home and just worked on my blog :P haha...
