Surprise Surprise
Ta dah! :) My new laptop has finally arrived! This was the surprise I was telling you about previously and the reason for my lack of updates the past week. Just ordered it from Dell a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived last Wednesday. Whilst it may not be very pretty or chic to look at..it is all customised to highest upgrades with Windows Vista making it one very powerful machine (am pretty much going to leave it at home and not really make it a mobile sort of laptop). Its all mine mine mine! :) spent the past weekend playing around with it as my friend can attest to that haha... Why Dell you might ask...well its all on the account of the comprehensive 3 year warranty that they offer (including Theft cover...which means if its stolen, it is replaced) that covers everything from accidental spillage (coffee, tea, juice, etc) to droping the laptop (touch wood :P..this is not covered usually by other manufacturer's warranty)...plus the Dell people will actually come to your door and pick up the laptop, repair it and deliever it back to you again FOC! I have had first hand experience in the workings of this warranty (having had to replace the keyboard on Marissa's laptop as a result of a 'hot chocolate' incident :)...and it was so convenient...no need to go to X place to drop off the laptop, pay for the labour (which most other warranties don't cover..read the fine print!) and go back again to X to pick up the laptop. As an added bonus, it is part of my salary sacrifice (better to spend the money on a laptop than let the good old Aussie govt have a cent of it)...and I have saved $1.2K in taxes!!! If I am going to be living here in Aust and be subjected to the high tax system...salary sacrifice is the way to go!!! Now if I can only figure out a way to salary sacrifice a car ;)
