My first Court Appearance
Today is the day at 2.45pm was when I went to Court (by myself) and stood before a Registrar (something like a lower level judge but with almost all the powers of a judge except the power of arrest) to consent to some orders being made. Ok, I won't exaggerate and say that it was a complicated or hard case, it was really quite simple. But there is no doubting the nervousness I felt and the anxiety that was there as this was my
first actual court appearance! There are court procedures to follow (such as bowing to the court, where to sit, when to stand, how to address the Registrar, etc) and I only learnt about them this week :P in theory but never in practice. Nervous times, nervous times (especially since I have heard horror stories about some registrars telling people off and scolding young inexperienced lawyers like myself for not following proper procedure or protocol :() Thankfully, that didn't happen to me (most of the talking was done by the solicitor on the other side...haha) and court was adjourned :) Another priceless experience and it won't be my last court appearance :P haha
